Be a part of something amazing! Help coordinate a social responsibility movement! Immerse yourself in a new culture!

Advisors are fundamental to the growth and development of the organization. Each Advisor is the link between their program, and the university chapters. The Advisor is a vital member of the international Advising team, located in Central America.  The Advisor empowers university chapter leaders to plan successful brigades, furthering the impact of their respective program.

Within the Advising Team, the Advisor fulfills various roles that are related to two main areas:

1) Developing and supporting chapters/brigades and

2) Developing their knowledge of operations within a Non-Profit Organization.

From a chapter development perspective, the Advisor is responsible for supporting all of their assigned chapters by maintaining consistent contact with all of the respective chapter presidents and their fellow members. The Advisor guides each chapter through the entire process of recruitment, fundraising, raising awareness on campus, coordinating logistics, and preparing for the brigade throughout the year. In addition, the Advisor works with the Program staff in-country to nurture and train each chapter  about their understanding of the program and its part of GB’s holistic model for sustainable development. In order to have a consistent presence in the partner communities through brigades, each chapter must have a sustainable model on campus in which they can engage various students, faculty members and professionals throughout the year. The success of brigades and projects in communities depends on the Advisor’s communication and interaction with chapter presidents and Program staff before and after the brigade and even in between school years through the encouragement and follow-up of succession planning.

From a programming perspective, the Advisor works in conjunction with the Program Teams located in each country. Together, the Advising and Programming Teams implement the programs according to their missions and objectives, and working to improve the brigade experience for both students and community. Throughout the year, the Advisor participates in various program-related initiatives, discussions, community visits, and brigades.
