As cliché as it may sound, after spending two weeks in Honduras this year it has changed my life. Last year when I went to Honduras, I had a great time, hence the fact that I again returned this year, but the experience that I had last year are pale in comparison to what I experienced this year and it is because I allowed myself to be changed by the people of Honduras. My eyes were opened to the poverty. My eyes were opened to the real tangible need. My eyes were opened to the unshakable faith these people have. My eyes were opened to the community these people exhibit. My eyes were opened to the gratitude that these people have for us and for life itself.
After only being in Honduras for a few days this year I knew that it was the place that I needed to be, my heart was torn, my heart was broken, and my heart is longing to see change for the Hondurans. I know that I will be back to see these people, there is no way that the change made in my life can be written on paper or described in words, the change that occurred, occurred inside my heart. My heart was softened, my heart was opened and there is no way that that could ever be expressed, these people have given me a passion for life and a real reason to live.
I get butterflies every time I look at a picture, talk to a friend or even think about the lives that were change and the change that is occurring in Honduras everyday. Words cannot describe what I experienced but this video helps me relive the memories of Honduras.
