We just wrapped up a very successful Brigade season in Panama. In August alone, Medical Brigades saw 1,938 patients and Dental Brigades saw 1,010 patients! Medical Brigades provided 34 referrals for cases that need additional treatment and 192 HIV tests were given in conjunction with the Panamanian Ministry of Health. All of this was accomplished with just 4 different groups visiting 6 brigade sites with 43 communities being reached.
The Medical Brigades team is also now keeping track of the referrals during the brigade and working successfully with the Ministry of Health’s Torti and Santa Fe Health Centers, receiving all our patients directly, without waiting in line. On another great note, the University of Washington’s Dental group doubled their record from last year on the number of patients seen and extractions performed, demonstrating the success of the new Medical Brigades model!
