We would like to announce the month of April as the Month of Microfinance!
- When? April 1-30, 2012
- Where? University campuses across the US and Canada
- Why? Join the initiative to celebrate, raise awareness, and fundraise for domestic and global microfinance
During the Month of Microfinance students at participating university campuses will host/participate in campus events that raise awareness and funds for domestic and global microfinance and provide educational opportunities for themselves and their communities.
Objectives
- Prepare students to become the next generation of microfinance practitioners through valuable educational experiences and events.
- Raise awareness and funds for both domestic and global microfinance.
- Unite the student microfinance movement in a coordinated and shared event.
Action Items for Your Campus!
- Join the movement on Facebook
- Take the Two Dollar Challenge and fundraise for your future brigade! Challenge yourself, your brigade team, and friends to live on $2 a day for an entire week.
- Set up a site that simulates the environment of a community living in poverty on your campus
- Experience what it’s like showering with cold water, having to boil your water to drink, and eating only the food necessary to survive
- Raise awareness about global poverty and microfinance brigades on your campus!
- Collect donations for your brigade
- Check out what other universities have done on their campuses
