What's that old saying? Comparison is the thief of joy. With tons of high quality applicants that can range from being similar to the complete opposite of you, the process of achieving medical school acceptance can be quite intimidating. Remember, you earned your spot to be interviewed in the same way that every other med school interviewee has. From sleepless study sessions to ironing your interview pants, you've done all the hard work it takes to get to this point and you deserve to be here. Take a moment to be proud of yourself, and use that confidence to carry you through your interview(s).
It's show time.
Drink some water. Pop in a breath mint - remember not to chew gum during your interview. You've got this! Show that you've researched the school and are passionate about pursuing medicine. Stay confident and true to who you are. Interviewers want to get to know YOU outside of your resume and accomplishments! Top off the interview by asking a few thoughtful questions and thank your interviewer(s) for their time.
You did it! Take a deep breath.
Your interview is over and you can finally take a breath. Rather than overthinking your conversation, celebrate your hard work by taking a break and doing something you love. Maybe you'll go see a friend, take a walk, go for a swim, or binge a new Netflix series under your favorite blanket. Don't forget to follow up with a thank you email to your interviewer(s), and don't forget to relax!
