Here are some updates from Water Brigades about their selection of Guaricayan as the next community they will be working in.
- After completing 15 successful community evaluations, Water Brigades has chosen the community of Guaricayan as its next project community! With a 23 year old, poorly designed water system which is no longer properly functioning, Guaricayan has a dire water need. Water Brigades in January and March of 2011 will be working to meet this need.
- Water Brigades has already begun preparation in Guaricayan. During a recent community meeting we helped the community establish a seven member Water Council and a Basic Sanitation Committee for the first time in the community’s history. An agreement was signed with the community regarding the roles and responsibilities of both the community and Water Brigades.
- Work began last week as six community members and Water Brigades technician, Joel Cruz, went to begin measuring pipeline distances and identifying new tank and dam locations.
