After much consideration and analysis, GB Nicaragua has decided to set up offices permanently in the department of Estelí which is indicated below with a red star. While our offices and operations will be based out of Estelí, we will be working in the department of Jinotega – an hour’s drive from the bustling city of Estelí. While Jinotega and Matagalpa are higher on the list in terms of health statistics and general need, Estelí is strategically located with easy access to both departments and is generally a more comfortable place for foreigners working in development work.
A more detailed analysis of the selection of this department will be presented by the end of this week including criteria considered, revision of health and security statistics and presumed benefits and risks of each department.
