Recently, we posted on Facebook a simple fill-in-the-blank question asking Brigaders to tell us why they are a part of this amazing organization. Here are some of the great responses we received:
From Meghan Martin: I participate in Brigades because it is a life changing experience and I can’t stop coming back for more! As a leader, even when times get tough, I think about all of the amazing times with my Brigade “Families,” from sleeping in an open-air hut during a rainstorm in the rainforest, to riding in the bed of a pick-up truck throughout a village and I can’t stop myself from wanting more. My Brigade “Families” are one major part, but the people we help is also another. Using my intermediate Spanish skills to piece together words and songs of “thanks” has been something I can never forget.
From Darla Caddell: …because it is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to volunteer my time and make a real difference in the lives of many! It changes your life in so many ways!!
From Kevin Haines: I participate in Brigades because of loosing myself in helping others. The moment in which two individuals appreciate each other without having to speak a word is something I believe everyone should experience.
