The Program Advisor plays a key role in the development of Global Brigades, as they serve as the link between the Program Lead, Chapter Leaders, brigaders and the communities Global Brigades supports. The Program Advisor will be the central contact for all Chapter leaders and will guide them through the entire process of coordinating logistics and preparing for the brigade throughout the year. In addition, the Advisor will play a key role working with the Program’s team to prepare for the upcoming brigades each season and measuring its impact.
From a programming perspective, the Advisor is responsible for understanding, contributing to and building awareness about Global Brigades’ holistic model and its ability to address the needs in the rural communities of Honduras, Panama and Ghana.
From a chapter development perspective, the Advisor is responsible for remaining in contact with a set number of chapters in a particular region of the US, Canada or the UK relating to their specific program. He/she is the most pivotal point of contact for Chapter Presidents to maintain chapter leadership, recruitment, fundraising, successful brigade preparation and the sustainability of the chapter on campus. In addition, the Program Advisor will be responsible for securing travel arrangements for the Chapters to which he/she is assigned. Travel coordination involves maintaining a strong level of communication with the In-Country logistics and accounting teams to ensure smooth Brigade preparation.
We encourage past brigaders who have a strong understanding of the mission and vision of the organization and have experience in club administration, club leadership and brigade preparation to apply. We are looking for enthusiastic and hard-working individuals who are passionate about the organization and will be a good fit for the team. Applicants should have exceptional organizational and leadership skills, a team-player attitude and ability to be flexible.
The country in which the Program Advisor will work and live will be determined by the program which he/she will be advising. The time commitment for each position is a minimum of 15 months and training will take place throughout mid-May to June. A few positions are currently open for candidates who are interested in starting immediately.
Resumes and cover letters are due Monday, February 28 and must be sent to Danielle Starry at Danielle@globalbrigades.org and Michelle Menclewicz at michelle@globalbrigades.org. Cover letter should include country and program preference.
