The Global Brigades student movement encompasses the globe with groups of passionate volunteers who mobilize towards positive social change. Global Brigades is the world’s largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. Since 2004, Global Brigades has mobilized thousands of university students and professionals through nine skill-based programs to improve quality of life in under resourced communities.
Currently Global Brigades’ website reads ‘Total Chapters, 380′; referring to university campuses in the United States, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland…and Ghana! Today was the first meeting of university students in a program-hosting nation to form a club on the University of Education, Winneba-Ajumako Campus.
This branch of the University of Education in the Republic of Ghana specializes in linguistics, English studies and traditional Ghanaian languages. Global Brigades Ghana relies heavily on our network of bilingual, change making Interpreters that accompany Medical, Dental, Water and Microfinance Brigades. This new Global Brigades Club on the Ajumako Campus focuses on Fantse language interpretation for holistic development programs in neighboring communities by working with Global Brigades Ghana.
As the network of university students across USA, Canada, UK, and Europe grows to support our programs in Honduras, Panama and Ghana; so too does our ability to connect socially conscious students through Global Brigades Ghana. Look for these students on your upcoming Brigade in Ghana!
