In a perfect way to close a brigade and to show a little bit of the American culture, Global Business Brigades continued their tradition of sharing peanut butter sandwiches with the community during their goodbye lunch.

Whether in the Wounaan, Ngöbe, Embera, Kuna, or Campesino community, the cultural interchange between brigades and the people they serve is definitely one of the strongest assets GBB has. More specifically, understanding how much influence this component has in the community’s lifestyles and consequently in the way they run their businesses is key to our efforts in supporting the development of not only micro-enterprises but more importantly human beings.

From my interactions with communities before and after the brigades, I have seen how meaningful the students’ efforts are to the members of the community. I always get comments on how amazing it is that students are coming “all the way from the U.S.” to provide them with business consultation. I also see so how brigaders empower community members to reach their full potential.

Thank you brigaders for bringing them hope and opportunity. With your commitment to their businesses you’re showing that you care about them and about their future.
