Buena Vida Coffee celebrates successful meal campaign, giving 3,300 meals to the children at the Socidedad Amigos de los Niños Orphanage.
MILWAUKEE, Wis.– Buena Vida Coffee is excited to be celebrating a successful launch of its meal campaign. This December, Buena Vida Coffee wrote a check to the Sociedad Amigos de los Niños for $3,465, which was used to provide 3,300 meals to children at the orphanage. Last year, Buena Vida Coffee gave $2,000 in support of the Reyes Irene Girls School. The meal campaign was launched in August 2012, with a goal of providing one meal to one child at the orphanage for every bag of Buena Vida Coffee sold.
This contribution could not have been possible if not for our partnership with Global Brigades. We saw record-high sales among chapters such as Marquette University GMB, St. Louis GMB, UC Oakland GB, UNC Wilmington GMB, John Hopkins University PHB, Illinois Wesleyan University GMB and Purdue University GMB.
St. Louis University Global Medical Brigade for example sold just short of 300 pounds of coffee and raised over $1,200 for the groups’ trip to Honduras.
In addition to successful fundraising sales, in December Buena Vida made its debut appearance at Milwaukee-based Sendik’s grocery store. With this expansion, Buena Vida Coffee hopes to reach a new audience and deliver more meals to more children in need.
With the increase in both fundraising and individual sales, the Buena Vida Coffee team is confident it can meet its goal of 3,000 meals by the end of the semester.
