Are you a Global Brigades group looking for a fundraiser over the holiday break? Look no further than Buena Vida Coffee, a Marquette University student-run, not-for-profit company. For every bag of organic, fair trade Honduran coffee sold, organizations in the fundraising program earn five dollars toward their goal. On a larger scale, each bag sold provides one meal for one child at the Sociedad Amigos de los Ninos orphanage in Honduras.
A break from school is a great chance to increase sales for your fundraiser. Consider asking friends and family back home to support your Global Brigades team by buying a bag of Buena Vida Coffee. Packages of Buena Vida Coffee are great gifts that keep giving the whole year through.
Many Global Brigades groups nationwide have found great success in fundraising with Buena Vida Coffee. Anthony Kuchem, of St. Louis University Global Brigades, reported the group sold just short of 300 lbs of coffee, raising over $1, 200 for their trip to Honduras. Kuchem said he would highly recommend Buena Vida Coffee fundraisers to other Global Brigades groups. “The profits have a three-fold benefit,” he said, “First, the club gets almost exactly one-third of all proceeds, a large margin compared to many fundraisers. Second, purchasing this coffee is benefiting the people of Honduras, both providing meals to orphans at Sociedad Amigos de los Ninos and promoting fair trade agriculture for coffee farmers. Finally, we are supporting a grass-roots, not-for-profit business that began as a way to help others.”
